“Tanino Liberatore. Of bodies and fragments”, the exhibition at the Clap in Pescara

2 min read

The inauguration is scheduled for Thursday 8 December, at 4.30 pm, in the presence of the artist who will meet the public and perform a spectacular live drawing performance.

The exhibition is a game of mirrors between the present and the past, between the illustrator Liberatore who offers himself to the gaze of the public with undone and beautiful, erotic and cheeky women, and with explosive male, superheroic, athletic bodies. The centrality of the body in Liberatore also returns in the works on the bodies of archaic primates, studied in their anatomical evolution, as well as in the body of the iconic Ranxerox, the muscular and violent cyborg created by the brilliant mind of Stefano Tamburini and graphically outlined by Liberatore.

The journey into Liberatore’s genius branches out between the connections that the artist has outlined with the most diverse cultural imaginaries, starting from music with illustrations, record covers; with the classic story, re-read from the illustrations for the Spartan saga of “The shield of Talos”; with poetry thanks to the drawings inspired by Baudelaire’s “The Flowers of Evil”; to experimentation in comics itself, with original plates from the early seventies, unpublished works and covers of historic magazines such as “Cannibale” and “Frigidaire”.

Finally, a splendid statue of Ranxerox, created with modern 3D techniques starting from Liberatore’s original drawings, will be exhibited and donated by the author and Comicon to the Clap Museum and will become part of the permanent collection.
