5.6 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia

Web Desk: A 5.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Indonesia today. 56 people were killed and more than 700 injured in the earthquake in West Java province. Rescue workers are still searching for casualties and survivors buried under the debris. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the town of Chainjur, 45 miles from Jakarta. About 25 aftershocks have been recorded so far. Hospitals are overflowing, hundreds of people are being treated in car parks and on footpaths. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed. People have evacuated their offices and houses as the buildings continue to shake. Rescuers are facing difficulties in rescuing survivors due to landslides. There is a fear of more landslides after heavy rains started.
